  • 1. Can I get Panorama X now?
Panorama X is not yet available to the public, but it is available by private invitation. So far, about a hundred users have received invitations, and many of these early users are using Panorama X every day -- over 10,000 hours of total usage and nearly a thousand databases converted to Panorama X. Many of these users have been working with Panorama X for a year now. Here is a sampling of the positive feedback we've received so far.

Panorama X is phenomenal … it gives me the tools to create a beautiful, intuitive and powerful interface! It really has been a joy to spend so much time with it. Steve Middleton

Best app I have ever encountered. Almost unbelievably fantastic support. Craig McPherson

Every day I use impressive, sometimes astounding, new features in Panorama X. I’m getting a big kick out of this process. I’m really looking forward to streamlining my databases with new ways of doing things. It’s fantastic. The new forum is superb. David Duncan

This program rocks my world, and every new capability is like acquiring a new musical talent. Danny Grizzle

Panorama remains a platform that amazes me even after over 20 years. Jason Macario

It seems to me that you’re doing everything right with Panorama X. I’m amazed at what you and your team are accomplishing. Right now, even in beta, Panorama X is an incredible piece of work.Laurence Veinott

  • 2. I submitted my request, when will I receive my invitation?
We are currently processing invitation requests quickly. Depending on the how many requests are currently pending, we should be able to process your request in between one and seven days. Requests from current Panorama 6 customers will be prioritized, but other than that all invitations will be extended on a first come first served basis. When we've got a spot ready for you, we'll send an email to the address you submitted when you requested the invitation. The email will be sent from mailgun@mg.provue.com, so please make sure that your email system is configured to allow email from that address.

  • 3. Is Panorama X finished?
The bulk of the work is complete, but there are still some minor features and documentation we are working on -- that's why this is still an "early access" version. To learn more, see Panorama X Early Release Status. New versions are coming out every few weeks (and unlike Panorama 6, updates automatically download and install with a single click).

  • 4. Is Panorama X reliable?
You may wonder if Panorama will crash or lose data. Fortunately, both are quite unlikely. So far, almost a hundred early Panorama X users have accumulated over 10,000 hours of usage over the past year without a single report of lost data, so it appears that Panorama X is at least as reliable as Panorama 6, if not more reliable. During that time there have also only been a handful of crash reports. There are of course unresolved issues, which you can view at any time. All of the known issues are minor and only affect a small percentage of users.

  • 5. When will the final version be ready?
Panorama X is a huge project. It is very difficult to estimate the delivery schedule of a project of this complexity, but we are hoping for an official public release in early 2017. In any case, we expect to be actively developing Panorama X with regular releases both before and after the public release.

  • 6. Is Panorama X free during the early access period?
When you first launch Panorama X, you'll be asked to create an account and pre-pay for at least 12 months, which is $100. The purchase is made from inside the app.

Instead of requiring a large up-front payment, Panorama X takes a pay-as-you go approach — approximately $5 to $8 per month of active use. The price varies depending on how many months you purchase in advance — you get the best price if you purchase a block of 60 months (5 years). For more details, see Panorama X Accounts & Pricing FAQ.

Keep in mind that your account is only debited for months in which you actually use Panorama X for an hour or more. We think you'll want to move all of your databases from Panorama 6 to Panorama X as soon as possible, but if after a few weeks you decide to put Panorama X on hold for a while, you're account will only be debited a few dollars. The balance of the funds will remain constant until you start using Panorama X again, whether that's a few weeks, months, or even years.

  • 7. Can I learn more about Panorama X before I request an invitation?
There are over two dozen in-depth videos you can watch right now on the Panorama X Vimeo On Demand page, including ten free videos.

You can also view the Panorama X Help online without downloading the software. This help currently contains several thousand pages of documentation. (Please note that the online version of the help is not currently searchable, but within the application, the help is fully searchable.)

  • 10. Can I use Panorama 6 and Panorama X on the same computer?
Yes, and you can have both 6 and X running at the same time -- they won't interfere with each other. So if you have one or more databases that need extra work to transition to Panorama X, you can continue to use them on Panorama 6 while working on any necessary reprogramming.

  • 11. Can Panorama X open a Panorama 6 database?
Absolutely. Panorama X can open any database saved with Panorama 6 on an Intel platform (Mac or Windows). Databases from Panorama for Mac 5.5 or earlier, or from a PowerPC computer, must be opened and saved using Panorama 6.0 on an Intel based computer before they can be opened with Panorama X. So far nearly a thousand Panorama 6 databases have been successfully brought into Panorama X.

Note: When Panorama X imports a Panorama 6 database, it makes a copy (the copy will have the extension .pandb). The original Panorama 6 database is never touched.

  • 12. Does Panorama X run on macOS Sierra?
Yes, Panorama X works on OS X 10.9 Mavericks and newer, including macOS Sierra (10.12).

Note: Although Panorama X works fine, Panorama 6 is not compatible with the new Gatekeeper Path Randomization feature in macOS Sierra, so it cannot be installed from a web browser. However, Panorama X does include a special tool that allows Panorama 6 to be installed in macOS Sierra. See the Panorama Classic FAQ page for more information.
