To add and/or remove fields from a Rails table, start by selecting the application and table that you want to modify. Then choose Add/Remove Fields from the Application menu. The dialog that appears is very similar to the dialog for creating a new table.
Initially this dialog lists the existing fields in this table. As shown above, these existing fields have a greenish background. To delete one of these fields simply click on the minus button to the left of the field name. You can rename an existing field by double clicking the field name. You cannot change the data type of an existing field or drag to re-arrange existing fields.
New fields are just as they are with the Create New Table dialog — just type in the new field name and press Return or Enter. New fields are shown with a pink background.
Click in the Type column to choose the new field's data type from a pop-up menu. You can also double click to change the field name, press the minus button to delete the new field, or drag to change the order of the new fields. (However, you cannot drag a new field into the middle of the existing fields.)
When the fields are set up the way you want them press the Modify Table button. After a short delay, Track Magic will display the shell output from the command used to create the table. When that dialog is dismissed the modified field structure will appear in the lower right hand quadrant of the Track Magic window.
Note: If you previously set up a Panorama database linked to this table you'll probably want to configure the fields in that database to match the changes you've made in the Rails table. To do that simply open that database and choose Local Field Configuration from the Rails menu. See Field Configuration for more information.
