To download the entire Rails table into the local Panorama database, choose Download Data from Rails from the Rails menu.
Track Magic normally downloads all "non-magic" fields, but you can configure Track Magic to include only a subset of the fields in the Rails table (for example you might not want to download "blob" fields. See Field Configuration for more information.
Downloading a Subset from Rails
If the Rails table contains a lot of data you may want to download only a subset of the data. This is easily done by choosing Download Subset from Rails… from the Rails menu.
To download, choose a field in the Rails table, an operator, and type in the data you want to select. Press the Download button to actually download the data.
Sorting Downloaded Data
Track Magic normally downloads data in whatever order it is supplied from Rails (usually this means it is ordered by the primary key). To specify a specific order for the downloaded data open the Local Database Options… dialog in the Rails menu.
Pop-up menus in the dialog allows you to specify primary, secondary and tertiary sort keys. For each key you can specify whether the data is to be sorted in ascending or descending order. Once the sort order has been specified it will be used for all downloads from this Rails table, both for subsets and downloads of the entire table.
Note: This preference only controls the initial order of the data as it is downloaded. You can use the Sort menu to re-sort the local data at any time, see Sorting for more information.
Downloading a Single Record
Sometimes you may want to download just the current record — for example you might want to check to see that you have the latest data before you modify a record. To download the current record choose Download Current Record from Rails from the Rails menu.
