Track Magic is based on Panorama, ProVUE Development’s RAM based database program, so the first step in this guided tour is to launch the Panorama application by double clicking on it. Next, I’ll launch Track Magic itself — it’s found in the Rails submenu of the Wizards menu.
The Track Magic window has three panes: Applications, Tables, and Fields.
The top pane lists all of the Rails applications on my computer. (Track Magic uses Spotlight to search the computer.) I can click on an application to work with it in Track Magic — this displays a list of the application’s tables in the lower left pane. Click on a table to display a list its fields in the lower right pane. (Each table also has an icon for viewing and editing the data in the table, which I’ll cover in a moment.
Searching for a Rails Application
If you’ve been working with Rails for a while you may have a lot of Rails applications on your computer. The search box in the upper right hand corner of the Track Magic can help to find a particular application, in this case, I’ve typed in hobby to find a Rails application named hobbyshop.
The text in the search box can match the Rails application name or any portion of the path to the application.
